Feronia is a fruit tree that belongs to the Rutov family. The second name of this fruit is Wood Apple. Sri Lanka and India were originally considered the homeland, where feronia was grown in gardens and planted along roads. These trees are widely cultivated in Southeast Asia and Malaysia.
Feronia lemon or (wood apple) is a medium-sized tree. Its trunk is covered with wrinkled, rough bark and large thorns. It grows very slowly and is an unpretentious plant; it grows in almost any well-drained soil. The tree itself is straight, the leaves are long. If the leaves are rubbed against the palm, they give off a citrus scent. The color of the leaves is dark green. It blooms with small, dim, red flowers. After flowering, fruits appear. They are spherical, 5 to 12 cm in diameter.
The color of the fruit itself is gray. The fruit is covered with a hard, woody shell, inside contains brown flesh, with small white seeds. There are a lot of them in each fruit. The pulp is sticky, mealy. It tastes sweet, but a little knitting in the mouth. It is edible. Before use, the shell must be broken with a hammer, and the contents of the fruits are usually mixed with sugar or coconut milk before use.

A decoction of the leaves has astringent properties, so it is used for indigestion, vomiting, hiccups. Consuming the seeds helps in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Wood is also valued, it is used in the construction of houses, in agriculture, and poles are made. The peel is very strong in composition, it is used instead of dishes.
