Tsipuro is a strong alcoholic beverage produced in Greece. As soon as they do not call Tsipuro - Greek moonshine, grape vodka, Greek vodka. Strictly speaking, the drink belongs to grape brandy, as it is produced from grape cake by the double distillation method. The special copper coating of the distillation cubes contributes to a crystal clear, transparent beverage (calorizator). After distillation in Tsipuro, local water is added, which is extraordinary soft.

The first mentions of a drink called Tsipuro are found in documents associated with Mount Athos, where the novices of the world's most famous monastery regaled travelers in their refectory with a grape strong drink.

Currently, Tsipuro is produced in Greek Macedonia and Thessaly, where anise is added to the drink, and on the island of Crete and in Epirus, where anise is replaced with honey. In any region, Tsipuro usually contains spices such as cinnamon and cloves.

Until the second half of the twentieth century, Tsipuro could only be purchased in the regions of its production (noma). It was only after the 1980s that the sale of Tsipouro became free throughout Greece.
