Garden savory is an annual herb of the Yaskontovye family. Reaches up to 50 centimeters in length. It has a straight, slightly branched stem and narrow leaves. The plant grows in Central Europe, Asia Minor and Central, as well as in the Mediterranean and Crimea. It blooms with small purple or pink flowers. Savory is often confused with thyme, but these are two completely different plants. They differ not only in appearance, but also in taste. Thyme is a semi-shrub, and savory is a herb. Thyme has a bright spicy taste, while savory tastes thinner, lighter and herbaceous. It is also interesting that the collection of leaves for the preparation of seasoning in thyme occurs before flowering, and in savory - after.
