How to cook Spicy Oatmeal Cutlets
Pour the oatmeal into a saucepan, add spices, salt and mix well.
Pour boiling water over the oatmeal so that all the flakes are hidden.
Cover with a lid, wrap in a towel and leave to steam for 30 minutes.
Grate carrots and potatoes on the finest grater.
Add the grated vegetables to the steamed oatmeal and mix.
Add pea flour to the resulting minced meat and mix again.
Spoon the minced meat into a hot frying pan with oil, forming even cutlets.
Fry cutlets on each side for 3 minutes until golden brown.
This dish is prepared very easily and quickly, the special flavor of these cutlets is given by the spice "Sumakh" - it gives sourness and a reddish color. Pea flour does not allow a large amount of sunflower oil to be absorbed and gives a specific taste. The cutlets will appeal to vegetarians and those who are fasting, but during Lent they can only be cooked on days when vegetable oil is allowed. Serve the cutlets warm with sour cream or tomato sauce.
